Presenting Problems that are suitable for a referral into Impact on Teesside Foundation & Recovery Team:
- Those who have historically struggled to engage with services.
- Individuals who have recently accessed local Crisis Services or are at risk of needing to do so. In these instances the person must be able to keep themselves safe and agree to a risk management plan.
- Someone experiencing social difficulties and impact upon mental health
- Those with social stressors such as substance use, financial difficulties, homelessness or similar that would affect their ability to engage with therapy services.
- Those who would prefer or who would benefit from a more solution focused approach to support.
- Someone interested in joining community activities and groups to increase connectivity.
Unfortunately, Impact on Teesside Foundation and Recovery Team would not be the appropriate service for a referral for any of the below presenting problems:
- Those with high levels of risk to self or to others which is regular or ongoing.
- Schizophrenia where active symptoms are present or where more specialised care is required
- Personality Disorders as the focus of treatment or where the person is not able to engage in a short-term intervention
- Where there is significant risk to self or to others
- Dependence upon drugs or alcohol, where the use affects the person’s ability to engage with and attend appointments. Where the person cannot abstain from substances prior to and soon after appointments.
- Those who are looking to access Talking Therapy services (please see Therapy options suitability)
- Clients with social difficulties but no impact upon mental health.
- Clients who do not believe that they have any difficulties or do not want to make any changes
Within the Foundation and Recovery Team we are also able to offer a range of courses within our Recovery College. These courses are ideal for clients who would benefit from learning about supporting their mental health and wellbeing. The courses available include:
- Emotional Resilience
- Mindfulness
- Confidence Building
- Keeping Well
- Coping Skills
The Recovery College Courses are delivered both face to face in community settings or online via teams by both a tutor and a lived experience volunteer. They are a chance to meet with others in similar circumstances, sharing ideas and putting them into practice.
Recovery College Courses are suitable for:
- Clients who are open minded and willing to learn coping techniques, and can also keep topics of discussion appropriate to the content.
- Clients on a waiting list for another intervention that may benefit from exploring coping techniques and peer support.
- Clients who have completed a one-to-one intervention that want to continue to work on their mental health.
The Recovery College Courses would not be suitable for:
- As this is a learning model, we will not actively monitor risk therefore clients with high levels of ongoing and current risk would not be able to engage with these courses.
- Clients with unmanaged mental health needs that are not currently engaged with appropriate support.
- Clients who are solely looking for emotional listening support or befriending.
